Product Description

Eco seeds are Open Pollinate or Non Hybrid seed with no chemical coatings and GE

Open pollinated means you can save seed from your own plants and expect it to
grow “true to type” - provided it hasn’t cross-pollinated.  Unlike the hybrid varieties popular today- seed from hybrids will not grow true to type - you have to buy new seed each year.

Little seedlings dependably reappear in my garden every year.

New Zealand spinach (Tetragonia tetragonioides) isn’t actually part of the spinach family. However it's a great spinach substitute and little seedlings regularly reappear every year. A similar mild flavour to spinach, but it's recommended to cook the leaves to remove the oxalates.  Blanch in hot water for one minute, then rinsing in cold water before cooking. It thrives in hot weather, and is considered an . Few insects consume it, and even  and  do not seem to feed on it.

The thick, irregularly-shaped  should be planted just after the last spring . Before planting, the seeds should be soaked for 12 hours in cold water, or 3 hours in warm water. Seeds should be planted 5–10 mm (0.2–0.4 in) deep, and spaced 15–30 cm (5.9–11.8 in) apart. The seedlings will emerge in 10–20 days, and it will continue to produce greens through the summer. Mature plant will self-seed.

Seed packets contain sowing and growing information & indicates companion plants and crop rotation guidelines.
